AUBURN — A plan to boost city sewer rates by 9 percent gets a public hearing Tuesday night.
The Auburn Sewerage District will host a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Auburn Public Library.
Sewer rates are scheduled to increase effective Nov. 1. According to the proposed budget, a 9 percent increase will boost the district’s annual revenues by $318,000. That money is designed to cover increased costs of wastewater treatment chemicals, electricity and debt payments.
This would be the first sewer rate increase in more than three years, since April 2006.
