I am amazed at the events that transpired on Holland Street in Lewiston on September 2. A life is over because someone chose to ridicule, harass and taunt another individual.
Danny Bussiere was a childhood friend. Our families spent endless weekends together at their home on Taylor Pond. Danny was funny, sweet and simple. He was not a belligerent and hateful person.
Everyone has imperfections. Some are more apparent than others. Unfortunately, in Danny’s case, it was bipolar disorder. Being bipolar doesn’t make someone mean and violent. I am not bipolar and I have a problem with people being mean to me. I react like a nuclear reactor.
Why would anyone want to harass or make fun of someone keeping their yard and sidewalk clean? To me, it is taking pride in their neighborhood. Is this bad?
And why can anyone enter a crime scene to steal Danny’s bandanna and not be arrested for trespassing, at least? This is latent disrespect for the deceased individual and his family that has to sort through all of this mess. Why wasn’t Danny’s apartment cordoned off as an active investigation?
Do people think they are better than Danny Bussiere because they have not been diagnosed with any disorders?
I am not sure what the case is here, but in my opinion and my opinion only, “Be nice because the Lord has his eyes on you.”
