Michael David Dostie of J. Dostie Jewelers will discuss his technique and inspiration for jewelry created exclusively for the "River Ways" exhibit at L/A Arts’ Gallery 5. The Artist Talk on Friday, Sept. 18, will feature a wine-tasting, with Fuel restaurant providing three wines and hors d’oeuvres. A third-generation jeweler, Dostie is self-taught in jewelry fabrication and uses a variety of techniques to create his pieces. Over the past five years, his work has progressed to a bold, modern look with sleek, fluid lines. Fine jewelry, including Dostie’s piece, above, titled "Loon," and other artwork in "River Ways," a celebration of the Androscoggin River and its surrounding communities, will be available for purchase. The event will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $10 per person, are available through L/A Arts. Call 782-7228. Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St., Lewiston, next to Fuel.
