1911 – 2009
FARMINGTON — Lempi W. Niemi, 97, of Kingfield died Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Quincy, Mass., the daughter of John V. and Lyydia Wuori. She graduated from Kingfield High School. She raised her three children until going to work at H.G. Winter & Sons, where she worked until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Tanya Wilber and her companion, Casper Haines, of Salem, Shelby Banks and her husband, Jack, of Kingfield, Kara Niemi of Carrabassett Valley, Jeffrey Niemi and his companion, Lisa, of Starks, Lance Niemi of New Portland and Loren Niemi and his wife, Tammy, of Augusta; three great-grandchildren, Deanna Haines and her husband, Garold, Darcy Wilber and Ashlynn Niemi; two great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Haines and Taegan Heath; two sisters, Impi Tufts of Kingfield and Lilja Rook of California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; three children, her daughter, Margaret Winter, and two sons, Robert and Lawrence Niemi; two granddaughters, Cheryl and Pamela Winter; a sister, Jennie Nichols; and two brothers, Tom and Ilmari Wuori.
