AUBURN — A program “An Evening with Fanny Crosby” will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St. Fanny Crosby was a blind hymn writer in the 19th century and early 20th century.
Dressed in period attire, the Rev. Ann Nelson will appear as Miss Fanny in a first person interpretation titled, “Her Heart Can See.” The presentation will be interspersed with congregational singing of hymns that Crosby wrote. Nelson retired in 2005 after 35 years of service as a United Methodist pastor. Her husband, John Nelson, will be co-presenter and narrator.
In keeping with Crosby’s heart for missions, a free-will offering for missions will be received.
Before the presentation, the church will be open at 5:30 p.m. for those who would like to tour the building and see the repairs and renovations that a group of volunteers have been doing this summer.
