Evelyn H. Labree

1923 – 2009

AUBURN — Evelyn Hecimovich Labree, 85, a longtime resident of Lisbon, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Hospice House.

The daughter of John and Manda Hecimovich, she was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Benoit, Wis. As a young women, she attended cosmetology school and worked for General Motors in Detroit, Mich., where she met the love of her life, Carroll A Labree Jr.

They were married Nov. 8, 1945, and spent 62 years together at the home they built in Lisbon. She was a devoted homemaker, an excellent cook and an avid gardener. They also built a cottage in Harpswel, where they enjoyed fishing and which was the site of many joyful family gatherings. Reading and traveling were also favorite pastimes. Despite the distance, she always stayed connected to her family in Wisconsin, and made many trips back to the family farm. 

She leaves behind two daughters, Sally Ann Lebree of Monmouth and Suzanne Poliquin, her husband, Gerard, and their son, Shane of Lisbon; a granddaughter, Catherine Coursen and son-in-law, Richard Coursen, of Belmont, Mass.; and her brother, Bernard Hecimovich of Benoit, Wis.

She was predeceased  by her loving husband, Carroll; and her beloved daughter, Rosanne Coursen.

Her family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and volunteers at the Hospice House and Androscoggin Home Care for their compassion and caring during this difficult time.
