BETHEL — Western Mountains Senior College held their seventh annual meeting recently. Nearly 50 members and newly registered members heard highlights of the past year from co-chairwoman Jackie Cressy, while co-chairwoman Bonnie Pooley pointed to the fall senior college newsletter as an example of an active fall session ahead.
Joe Arizzi, financial chairman, discussed the healthy outlook of WMSC. He was praised for his contributions to WMSC as he leaves the board this year.
Rosemary McLean of Bryant Pond, and Judith Whitman and Virginia Gamble of Bethel were voted as incoming members of the board. Returning to the board for their second three-year terms are Walter Brough of Greenwood, Nancy Davis of Bethel and Peter Gartner of Bryant Pond.
In an effort to encourage members to renew their memberships prior to the Sept. 1 membership year, WMSC offered a gift certificate to order books for WMSC courses. Fifty members renewed in advance and their names were placed in a drawing with Mary-Ellen Gartner drawn as the winner.
Lynn Arizzi, pianist, led the group in a spirited program of “Name That Tune.” Nancy Davis and Roberta Taylor led the singing when the tune was identified.
Following the meeting, statistics showed that WMSC has close to 80 renewing, new and guest members.
Members who have not renewed their memberships may send their membership fees to WMSC, P.O. Box 1305, Bethel. Some courses may still be open to enrollments. New members who wish to join may contact Jackie Cressy at 824-0508 or Bonnie Pooley at 381-7944 for information.
