Today’s savings: $25.74
Like bananas but don’t like how fast they age? Store your bananas in a plastic bag. It will extend their shelf life.
Bananas left in a fruit bowl can turn brown in about a week, which is great if you like banana bread. If you take a green/barely yellow bunch of bananas and store them in a closed plastic bag, it takes almost two weeks before you’ll start to see brown spots develop. By then, though, you would have eaten all the bananas instead of throwing some away.
Saving 99 cents a week by not throwing away a single banana, you can save $25.74 in six months.
Once the bag is opened, and if it’s left open, the bananas will ripen very quickly, so keep the bag sealed to preserve freshness.
