Church service
SOUTH PARIS — “The Long, Long, Thoughts of Summer” will be the sermon topic of Silver Moore-Leamon at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist, and the Sunday School will be lead by Renee Wales. The coffee hour will follow the service in Good Cheer Hall. Child care is provided.
Cemetery association
HARTFORD — The Maple Grove Cemetery Association, Church Street, will hold their annual meeting at at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Hartford Community
Church. All members and persons interested are encouraged to attend. Plans for the new cemetery additions will be addressed.
Following the meeting, the Hartford Historical and Improvement
Society will meet. Those attending should bring a bag lunch.
Members will visit the Old Union Schoolhouse which is currently being
used by the church as a clothing center.
Spaghetti supper
SOUTH PARIS — A spaghetti supper for Beth’s House will be held from
5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street. Beth has spinal muscular atrophy and needs a different living environment. The meal will include spaghetti,
meatballs, small salad, garlic bread, drinks and brownies. Cost for adults is $7; children 12 and under, $5.
Sunday service
NORWAY — On Sunday, Sept. 20, the Universalist Churches of Norway and
West Paris will have a service of presentation for the Visitor’s Sunday
to be held on Sept. 27. The title of the sermon by the Rev. Richard
Beal will be “Why I Came, Why I’ve Stayed,” an examination of his sense
of faith and mission to the two churches.
Sunday services are held at 9 a.m. in West Paris, 128 Main St., and at 11 a.m. in

Vesper service
NORWAY — The continuing series of evening Vesper
services, held by the Unitarian Universalist churches of Norway and
West Paris, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Norway church, 479 Main St.

Zeta chapter
NORWAY — Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society of Key Women
Educators will meet at 5:30
p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Rowe Elementary School library. Sue Torr, a DKG member of the Great Britain Beta Chapter, will speak to the group about discovering the magic of reading. She
encourages people of all ages to speak up about their difficulties and
get help, and makes professionals aware of the problems nonreaders.
Those that attended the Northeast Regional conference in Vermont will
share information about the conference. The book inserts for 2009-10

Historical society
WOODSTOCK — At the September meeting of the Woodstock Historical
Society, Annella Burnham was elected chairwoman of the board of
trustees and Mary Billings was elected vice chairwoman. “The Year in
Video – 1990” was shown featuring elections, economic conditions, sports
and many other events in Maine. Members welcomed two
visitors and decided to have a potluck supper and DVD by Hattie
Kneeland, missionary to Peru, in October. The November meeting, the
30th anniversary of the society, may be on Disney World.
