PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – A grand jury has indicted a Maine lobsterman accused of shooting another lobsterman in the neck during a confrontation.
Knox County District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau tells the Portland Press Herald a grand jury indicted 68-year-old Vance Bunker on four charges Thursday. The grand jury, meeting in Rockland, also indicted the victim, 41-year-old Christopher Young, on a criminal trespassing charge.
Police said the incident was related to a dispute over fishing territory around the remote island off the coast of Rockland.
Bunker was indicted on two counts of elevated aggravated assault, on one count of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and one charge of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon in the Matinicus Island shooting.
Rushlau said Bunker is expected to not guilty plea at his Sept. 30 arraignment.
