NORTH ANSON – Jake Roy scored the game-winning goal as Jay clipped Carrabec 2-1 in MVC boys’ soccer on Friday.

The Cobras (0-5) captured only one goal as Morgan Taylor matched Roy’s first tally of the game to knot up the contest at 1-1 at the midpoint.

Midway through the second half, Rico Gortmans was able to kick a goalie save loose and feed it to Cameron Rose, who in turn passed the ball to Roy. Roy then booted the ball into the open net for the game-winner.

Goalie Kenny Wood made seven saves for Carrabec, while goalie Isaac Couture prevented 11 shots to earn the win in net for Jay.

Oak Hill 8, Nokomis 0

NEWPORT -Adam Soucy poured in four goals in the first half to power undefeated Oak Hill to an 8-0 triumph over Nokomis.

Zach Lennett added two goals and an assist for the Raiders (6-0), while Cody Fortier and Brian Soucy added goals. Ben Daggett recorded a pair of assists.

Glen Allen made six saves in goal for Oak Hill. Tyler Withee turned aside 21 shots for Nokomis (2-4).

Mt. Blue 0, Brewer 0

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue’s (1-3-1) and Brewer’s (3-1-1) goalies and defense wouldn’t give an inch as the Cougars and Witches played to a 0-0 tie after double overtime in a boys’ soccer game Friday.

Mt. Blue goalie Dylan Eustis made seven saves while Brewer’s Evan Nadeau stopped five shots. The Cougars outshot the Witches, 13-12, but Brewer held the advantage in corners at 3-1.

Traip 4, Poland 1

KITTERY – The Rangers scored three unanswered goals in the second half as Traip rode off with a 4-1 victory over Poland in WMC boys’ soccer action Friday.

Eli Murphy drove a Nate Williams toss into the back of the net for the lone Knights’ (0-4) goal.

Jay Cuttle scored the opening salvo for the Rangers (2-1-1) in the first half. Riley Sheahan broke the tie with an early second half tally, and Lucas Costa nailed down two insurance tallies before the final gun.

Football

Leavitt 55, Belfast 12

BELFAST – Eric Theiss threw for two touchdowns and rushed as Leavitt overwhelmed Belfast for a 55-16 victory Friday evening.

Theiss threw 24-yard scoring strike to John Letourneau in the first quarter and a 31-yard TD pass to Buck Bochtler in the second quarter. Theiss added a 13-run for another touchdown in the opening quarter.

The unbeaten Hornets accumulated 375 yards of total offense in the first half and limited Belfast to 11 total yards as Leavitt took a 42-0 advantage at halftime.

Jordan Herson rushed for two touchdowns, while Letourneau added a 5-yard TD run to his scoring catch.

Jake Ouellette and Isaiah Wright also scored touchdowns for Leavitt, while Nick Urquhart kicked seven extra points.

Belfast avoided the shutout with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Winthrop 40, Sacopee Valley 12

SOUTH HIRAM — Corey Harris rushed for more than 100 yards in the first half, including three touchdowns, to lead Winthrop to an overpowering 40-12 victory over Sacopee Valley.

Harris scored on runs of 1, 53 and 3 yards. Ryan Conant added two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter of 1 and 35 yards.

Travis Luce rounded out the Ramblers scoring with a 1-yard burst in the final quarter.

For Sacopee Valley, Chris Rowley scored on a 3-yard run,  and Heath Cormier returned a fourth-quarter 87 yards for a score.
