1946 – 2009
AUBURN — Diane S. Fontaine, 62, of Lewiston, died Thursday, Sept. 17, at Hospice House of Androscoggin. She bravely battled Multiple Sclerosis for 35 years until she lost her battle to lung cancer, which she courageously fought, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 3, 1946, the daughter of Leonidas and Mabel (Simond) Jolin. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. She worked for Samson’s Market in the meat and deli department. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, member of the MS Association and TOPS ME160 Club of Auburn.
She enjoyed making picture puzzles, playing cards, camping, fishing, bingo, helping her husband Paul with his Avon business, spending time with her grandchildren when she could, spending time with family and friends and her special dog, “Misty Blue.”
She is survived by her husband, Paul R. Fontaine of Lewiston; a daughter, Susan St. Hilaire and her husband, Mike, of Lewiston; a son, Michael R. Roy and his wife, Tara, of Lewiston; a sister, Carol Laplante and her husband, Robert, of Sabattus; five grandchildren, Bethany St. Hilaire, Micaela Roy, Robert St. Hilaire, Aiden Plourde and Dacyn Roy; a niece, Tammy Grady; a nephew, Bruce Laplante; and her first husband, Gratien Roy.
