LIVERMORE FALLS — With the basics working, the Livermore Falls football team stuck to its successful game plan in a Class C Campbell Conference game.

Chandler White ran for 25-yard touchdown with 1:14 left and the Andies held a last-minute drive to earn a 18-12 win against Maranacook at windy Griffen Field.\

Livermore Falls (3-0) received the ball at its own 42 with six minutes to play and ruled the ground attack with Jeff Ryder (34 yards) and Ethan Hutchins’ 13-yard run. Quarterback Sam Whiting picked up a first down on a fourth and inches. Two plays later, White (169 yards, 27 rushes) broke down the right side and scored the winning TD. White, leading scorer in Class C, also ran-in a 15-yard TD late in the second quarter.

“We didn’t make any adjustments,” Andies coach Brad Bishop said. “We just needed to cut down on penalties (eight). They say you cant win every game by 40 points, well we were sure tested tonight. That tight end (Ben Johnson, eight catches, 100 yards) is a Division I prospect.”

Maranacook (1-2) is playing its first season of Class C football and tied the game on a pass by QB James Mrazik to Johnson in the right flat with 6:16 to go. The Black Bears had lost to Jay 20-12, last week.

“Those tosses to their big guy was hard to defend,” White said. “But our team keeps plugging away and never gives up.”

The Andies defense had trouble getting to Maranacook runner Luke Emery (95 yards, 23 rushes), who had tied the score 6-6 with a 53-yard TD with 2:47 left in the second quarter.

LF had drawn first blood when Whiting threw to Akex Rose for a 15-yard TD in the second quarter. Rose recovered a fumble on the Maranacook 19 and the Andies led 12-6 after White’s touchdown.

“We played well in spurts,”Bishop said. “These are just high school kids and they will learn.”
