LEWISTON – Twins Variety Sr. Giants remained the only undefeated team in FLY Football after a 21-12 victory over Bath Iron Works Sr. Steelers. Quintarian Brown started the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown reception. Ben Howell scored the other two TDs. Josh Knight had a good game at quarterback, and Logan Lavoie helped preserve the win with several strong runs late in the game. Defensively, Kevin Dillingham and Brown each made big stops in the Steelers’ backfield. Eddie Emerson threw for 137 yards and TD strikes to James Flynn and Curtis Kaplinger to lead the Steelers. Kaplinger’s catch was a 75-yard bomb, and he finished the day with 166 total yards. Kievone Washington also rushed the ball effectively for the Steelers. On the defensive side, Christopher Hazelton registered four tackles, including one for a loss. Kaplinger added five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, and Flynn and Emerson also performed admirably.

In the other senior contest, Lisbon Getty Mart Redskins upped their record to 2-1 with a nailbiting, 19-18 win over Sam Francis State Farm Lions. Brendan Duguay rushed for 66 yards and a TD, while Joey Gonzalez added 63 yards and a score to control the Redskins’ running game. William Adams also hit paydirt in the third quarter. Lily Fundis, Owen Voisine and Austin Greeley paved the way with big blocks up front. Jeffrey Clark Jr. led the defensive effort along with Fundis, Gonzalez, Duguay and Ryan Jones, who came up with a key stop on a conversion attempt late in the game. Aldean Porter and Duguay each recorded a QB sack. For the Lions, Nick Harnden passed for more than 160 yards and tossed TD passes to Isaiah Harris and Tim Robertson, who also rushed for a score. Harris led the defense with 11 tackles. Harnden, Andrew Mokumbi, Legend Edwards and Darius Phillips also provided strong resistance. 

Grimmel’s Gas-Up Jr. Giants find themselves in a three-way tie for the division lead after beating Sabattus Disc Golf Jr. Steelers, 14-12. Caden Begos scored on a 20-yard run. Gage Cote threw a 40-yard TD pass to Brock Belanger. Cote and Begos each punched in an extra point for the Giants. Keegan Voss, Tanner Sturgis, Noah Jalbert and Nate Osgood led a tough effort by the offensive line. Defensively, Sheldon Landry, Belanger (fumble recovery), Jalbert and Cote were leaders. Thomas Brochu chipped in a fumble recovery, and Landry and Cote each had key stops on extra-point attempts. For the Steelers, Garrett Poussard scored two touchdowns. Jaznel Burns (nine tackles) and Ben Bolduc (seven) paced the defense.

Softlight Studios Jr. Lions also moved to 2-1 with a 19-6 triumph over Gee & Bee Sporting Goods Jr. Redskins. Josh Kobel rushed for two TDs behind the offensive line of Jared Rubin, Tyson Cote, Miles Teague and Durrell Jackson. Julian Raines (TD) and Desmond Jackson (extra point) also had big games on the ground. The running game was a team effort also involving Stephan Porter, Rubin, Kobel, Raines and Durrell Jackson. Grant Hartley scored the Redskins’ TD on a 45-yard fumble return. Adaryan Ray rushed for 31 yards to pace the offense. Christian Fowler led the defense with 13 tackles, including three for losses. Also playing well defensively were Jayden Wilson and Nasir White with five tackles each, Keyshawn Green (four stops) and Damon Gagne (three).
