Ellen Caudle Grant

1948 – 2009

AUBURN — Ellen Caudle Grant, 61, of New Sharon, died early Friday evening, Sept. 18, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born on March 1, 1948, in Albemarle, N.C., the daughter of James Richard and Vera Grey (Strickland) Hibberd.

Ellen worked in the town of New Sharon as the town clerk and tax collector.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and Quilters Guild. She loved to sew and quilt and will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.

She is survived by her father, James Caudle of Meriden, Conn.; daughters, Shelly Carpenter and her fiancé, Steven Sanetrik, of Flynt, Mich., her children, Brandon, Reiley and Gavin, Jessica Griswold of Wilton, and her daughter, Shannon; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Griswold of Farmington, and her daughter, Maya; stepchildren, Jason Grant of Gray, and Shawn Lister and his wife, Melissa, of Bridgeport, Conn.; siblings, Jan Caudle of New Haven, Conn., Michael Caudle of Boothbay Harbor, Daphne Kilbourn of Putney, Vt., Richard Caudle and his wife, Sharyn, of Rocky Hill, Conn., David Caudle and his wife, Vreni, of Kensington, Conn., and Millie Rosenblatt and her husband, Bernie, of Clinton, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Brett, on April 17, 2008; and her mother, Vera Hibberd in December 2001.
