 NORWAY — The MaineHealth Learning Resource Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital has announced their fall class listing for classes beginning in September.

T’ai Chi and Qigong for Better Health: T’ai Chi instructor Betsy Foster MPH, will lead the six-week program where she will combine the health benefits of T’ai Chi and Qigong with some of the basic concepts of traditional Chinese medicine. The class will be suitable for those who might want a slower pace and/or be dealing with health issues. The class will meet from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 24 to Oct. 29, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Cost is $55 each person.

Yoga for Everyday Life: Louisa Abarno, fitness instructor and personal trainer, will lead the six-week class. Participants will learn a progressive series of movements that incorporates both yoga and pilates. Exercises and breathing techniques learned will help strengthen and aid in an overall feeling of well being. Participants should wear loose comfortable clothing, bring water and a yoga mat. Class will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 21 to Nov. 2; no class on Oct. 12, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Cost is
$55 each person.

Lowering the Costs of Your Medications: The free class may help participants lower or eliminate medication costs. Those attending will learn how to ‘shop’ for the lowest medication prices by comparing available patient assistance programs, $4 generic medications and/or Medicare Part D plans. Class will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at
the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Heart Healthy Cooking: Registered dietitian Pat Watson from Stephens Memorial Hospital and chef Elton Cole will teach participants how to eat and cook a heart healthy diet. Topics covered will include whole grains, fiber, meatless alternatives, label reading, tips for eating out and ways to reduce the fat of home recipes. Samples and recipes will be given. Class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the First Congregation Church, South Paris. Cost is
$10 each person.

Nordic Walking: Join certified Nordic walking instructors Rita Myrick and Kathleen Carroll as they introduce the new and easy way to add physical activity into a routine. Those who hate to exercise are recuperating from illness or injury or older people learning to walk without the fear of falling can all benefit from Nordic walking. Poles are available for rent at the class for $3. Class will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 23 to Oct. 7, at Gouin Athletic Field,
Alpine Street, South Paris. The class is free.
