McDonald Systems Inc., a national drive-in restaurant chain, is reportedly looking over sites in Lewiston where it plans to build a $125,000 restaurant.
The firm, which has 120 units in 23 states, specializes in a 15-cent hamburger and a 10-item menu. Ray Kroc, company president, said the franchise already has been granted to a Lewiston man who will operate the drive-in.
Kroc said the drive-in features low prices and fast service, doesn’t allow juke boxes or have car hops. The chain was started four years ago and now has developed into a business which grossed more than $11 million last year.

Personnel Manager Wayne Frankhauser described the measure as an “inventory adjustment period,” which becomes necessary when production schedules get out of line with demand.
“What it means is that by shutting down for a week, we are preserving jobs. Otherwise we would have to let some go.” Frankhauser said.
