After reading about the protest this weekend in Washington D.C., I feel compelled to write about my disgust for the hateful propaganda targeting President Barack Obama. Signs with images of Obama wearing a Hitler-style mustache, depicting him as the Joker from Batman and stating “Obama Bin Lyin” … all of this capped off an entire summer of hate speech targeted at Obama, including a so-called “gentleman” from the esteemed state of South Carolina barking “you lie” during a televised speech to a joint session of Congress.

As if it wasn’t embarrassing enough to go through eight years as an American with the Bush/Cheney tandem — now we have to deal with this?

I constantly hear the question of how are we going to pay for health care reform. A simple and fair enough question — but certainly not one that would require the kind of hate this has generated. I might add that it makes me wonder where these same people where when the previous administration was wasting American lives and American money in Iraq. Why were they not speaking out with the same outrage then? Why were they not outraged about tax cuts for the wealthy? Certainly providing health care for every American must fall somewhere in the top of the list along with saving the wealthiest some extra cash.
