1923 – 2009
LELAND, N.C. — Irene Bastien Cormier, 86, formerly of Auburn and Sabattus, died Wednesday, Sept.16, in North Carolina, where she lived with her daughter, Linda, for the past year.
She was born in Rumford, Sept. 4, 1923, the daughter of Alcide and Diana Dion Boulanger. She attended Stephens High School in Rumford.
She was married to Ivan Cormier, who died Jan. 22, 1980.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of the Rosary, Sabattus and Lewiston Senior Citizen. She enjoyed playing beano and will be remembered for her love of family.
She worked in the shoe industry in Lewiston-Auburn, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut, and Raytheon & General Electric.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Langlais and her husband, Norman, of North Carolina; four sons, Jerome J. Bastien Jr., Master Sgt. USMC, and wife, Donna, of North Carolina, Ronald R. Bastien of Auburn, Rick D. Bastien, Commander Judge General’s Advocate Corps, U.S. Navy and wife, Andrea, of Washington, and Kenneth L. Bastien of Sabattus; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Henry and Leroy Boulanger.
