LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce will  host a no-cost, brown-bag session called “How safe is your credit card processing?” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1:15 p.m.

Most organizations assume that their credit card processing systems are functioning well, which can lead to a number of critical problems. This discussion will help ensure that: your processing equipment is up-to-date, you make sure that you are processing correctly and avoiding extra costs, you understand your credit card statement to avoid hidden costs, you keep an ongoing dialogue with your processor to avoid added costs and you learn how to avoid paying too much for your credit card processing.

The facilitator for this session is Rob Westhoven, merchant sales and support representative for TD Banknorth Merchant Services. The presenter will be Scott Simmonds, who runs a successful consulting firm from his home in Saco. He has worked with more than 1,000 businesses in his 28-year career.

Simmonds consults on business insurance as well as mentoring business owners and those seeking career advancement strategies. His articles and advice have appeared in Forbes, Fortune, Investors Business Daily, Kiplinger’s, Money, The Wall Street Journal, and trade and association publications.

There is no charge for this seminar, however, attendees are asked to register on the Chamber Web site at www.androscoggincounty.com, or place a courtesy call to the Chamber at 783-2249 or an e-mail to [email protected] to reserve a space.
