LIVERMORE FALLS – The Apple-Pumpkin Festival organizers are ready to go. Musicians are scheduled, more than 80 vendors are booked and events are organized for the festival to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on the Livermore Falls Recreation Field.
There is a rain date of Saturday, Oct. 17, if the weather is too messy.
But it looks to be clear with maybe a few, early sprinkles, said Bonnie Perkins, administrative assistant to the Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the yearly event.
More than 3,500 people passed through the gates last year and organizers are shooting for 4,000 this year, Perkins said.
Admission is free.
There will be something for everyone, she said.
Antique tractors, a climbing wall, dunk tank, Tiger Slide, Bounce House, Rat Race, crafts, baked goods, sausages, Italian ices, toys, homemade breads, and much more are lined up.
The NorthStar Emergency Services bike medical team will also be on hand.
The festival will highlight cultural, agricultural and industrial heritages, as well as some up-to-date features.
There will be two stages on the field for musicians to perform, Perkins said.
There are also events being held around the area that coordinate with the festival, she said.
There will be a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the American Legion Hall on Reynolds Avenue in Livermore Falls. The Treat Memorial Library will hold its annual book fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. downstairs at the library on Main Street.
An Apple and Pumpkin Pie Baking Contest to benefit the Linda Latham Memorial Scholarship Fund is sponsored by Addie’s Shoppe, and the pies will be judged at the festival.
There is a cruise vacation raffle to benefit Girls’ State, a fuel raffle to benefit next year’s festival, and a greeting cards and scrap-booking event at Maine’s Paper and Heritage Museum on Church Street in Livermore Falls.
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Youth Ministry will hold a harvest supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Parish Hall on Church Street in Jay.
“This is our gift to the community, with the help of major sponsors,” Perkins said of the festival. “Any funds go back into next year’s festival.”
