HARTFORD — Town Constable Chuck Merritt reported to selectmen Thursday night that Hartford residents are finding it impossible to get a parking place at the town beach because of out-of-towners taking up the limited space.
Selectman Chairman Lee Holman said she recalled the town has a covenant from the Pine Shore Association that says the beach is for Hartford residents only.
Merritt said using the transfer station sticker for admittance to the parking area is not working, because there is no one to check cars until they are already parked.
No action was taken.
Alison McCrady talked to the board about single sort recycling. However, she said that Hartford actually had the lowest cost for recycling in the area and would not actually benefit from the single sort. Holman said that Hartford could benefit from more recycling by residents.
Regarding the town’s wood chipper, Selectman Jack Plumley said it would be hard to find parts for the old chipper that is no longer working. The board will try to find people with chippers who will do the work for the chips.
Holman said a lot of work has been done on Ricker Hill Road, but it is still not ready for paving. There were some complaints about washouts on Camp Road, which will be passed on to the road commissioner.
Holman said people have one more week to submit photos for the Canton/Hartford calendar.
The board approved an ad hoc committee to find volunteers for the Waste and Recycling Committee and alternates for the Planning Board and the Road Committee.
