Robert C. Andrews Sr.

FT. MYERS, Fla. — Robert C. Andrews Sr., 73, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Durham, passed away suddenly Sept. 8, due to a brief illness.
He was born on July 19, 1936, in Lewiston, a son of Walter and Alice Andrews. Best known as “shorty,” he attended schools in New Gloucester and started his career in construction with Lane Construction through which he met his wife, Marie E. Andrews. They were married for 51 years. Together they started their business, Durham Paving Co., which they ran for several years. They then retired to Fort Myers, Fla., where he ran a small maintenance company, Robert Andrews Inc., until his passing.
Shorty’s best friend was his dog, “Skipper.” He had a great love for Boston terriers. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and camping and spending time with his family. He was well-known for his knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics. He will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Marie E. Andrews; a son, Robert Andrews Jr. and his wife, Sonya, of Durham; daughter, Holly Flagg and her husband, Brian, of Nobleboro; two grandchildren, Brandon Flagg and Allison Flagg, of Nobleboro; brothers, Philip Andrews and his wife, Dorothy, of New Gloucester and William Andrews and his wife, Sandra, of Mechanic Falls.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Andrews; mother, Alice Andrews; and a sister, Rena Shaw of New Gloucester.
