Using cardboard as a barrier for weeds is called lasagna gardening, according to Ari Rosenberg of Lots to Gardens. “We found that there was a greater need for family plots, so we’re expanding the community garden and relocating the children’s garden,” Rosenberg said. After the work on the garden was completed, the community joined together for a Harvest Celebration. Another Harvest Celebration will be happening today at Hillview Apartments on Rideout Avenue in Lewiston. There will be face painting, music and sack races plus other fun garden activities. Afterwards, there will be a meal cooked by the children at Hillview and Lots to Gardens staff.
