Eva M. Twitchell
1922 – 2009
NORWAY — Eva M. Twitchell, 87, of Woodstock, died Sept. 22.
She was born in Pittston, Feb. 11, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Barnes) Colburn and was educated in Pittston schools and graduated from Gardiner High School, Class of 1938. She later received her master’s in education from Farmington Normal School and had taught school for more than 35 years.
She had served on the school board for RSU 44 for many years and had served as chairman, was a member of the Locke Mills Union Church and while in Florida, she was on the board of directors at the Crosswinds Mobile Home Park. She had taught aquatics while in Florida as well as in Maine. She enjoyed shuffleboard, bridge, crossword puzzles and doing needle work.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Twitchell of Manchester and Milford Twitchell of Griffin, Ga.; one daughter, Carol Haskell and her husband, Edmund, of Bryant Pond; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wendell O. Twitchell in 2006; and one sister, Marjorie Trussell.
