AUBURN — First Universalist Church of Auburn will present an encore production of “Hidden: A Gender,” a show that takes a frank look at gender identity. Needed are six adult actors (18+ only) for an ensemble cast, plus director, stage manager, props and costumers, and stage hands.

Auditions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in the vestry. All audition material will be read cold and assigned by the director. The play is both dramatic and comedic, so the director will look for a range of emotions.
Written by Kate Bornstein, longtime transgendered lesbian activist, the play features the stories of two real people dealing with gender identity.

The first, Herman, aka Kate, describes his life as a man before successfully transitioning to her life as a woman; while the second describes the story of Herculine, a historical woman living in Victorian France who developed into a male, ostracizing her from unforgiving Victorian society and forcing her to re-identify her gender.

Performance dates will be in early November. For more information, contact [email protected] or 783-0461.
