LEWISTON — The city is seeking the donation of a holiday for Courthouse Plaza. The tree is central to the city’s annual Parade of Lights celebration, according to a release issued by City Hall on Wednesday.
City Arborist Steve Murch is hoping to find a spruce tree that is 35 feet to 45 feet tall with a “good full shape and a single stem.” The tree needs to be easily accessible and not growing into power lines and not in a backyard, and it also needs to be located within Lewiston’s city limits.
If interested in donating a tree, residents should contact Murch by calling 513-3003, ext. 3443 or TTY/TDD: 513-3007 or e-mail: [email protected]. Murch will inspect suggested trees and by mid-November, the owner of the selected tree will be notified.
If your tree is accepted, the city will also grind the tree stump in the spring as well as loam and seed the area.
