LEWISTON — The Jesus Party Pentecostal kids Church will host a month of celebrations and observances. The ministry will recognize October as Pastor Appreciation Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Fire Prevention Month. All gatherings will take place at the Jesus Party headquarters, 291 Bates St. and will begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

On Friday, Oct. 2, Clayton Alward, pastor of the North Monmouth Pentecostal Church and founder of the North American Ministerial Association, will be honored for more 50 years of service to his church and community. Alward is a long time supporter of the inner city children’s church.

On Friday, Oct. 9, Doug Taylor will speak to the children concerning domestic violence. A candle will be lit in memory of all victims of violence. Purple ribbons will be given to all those in attendance as a reminder to promote peace. Adult volunteers and teenagers will travel to the Triangle of Hope Memorial Bench located in Patriot’s Park on Pine Street. Flowers will be laid at the bench and assistant Pastor James Span will lead participants in prayer, song and a moment of silence.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Doug Taylor, ministry director, will have the opportunity to give his testimony and share the ministry of the Jesus Party at a full gospel businessman’s breakfast to be held at at 8:30 a.m. at the American Legion hall, 17 Dunn St., Westbrook. On Friday, Oct. 16, the ministry will observe Fire Prevention Month and give plastic fireman action figures to the children while giving them the opportunity to pray for the safety of firefighters and rescue personnel in the Lewiston-Auburn area. A moment of silence will be held for all rescue workers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

On Friday, Oct. 30, children can attend a harvest party with songs, movie and snacks.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., the ministry will hold its 12th annual Holy Ghost Candy Buffet. The event is open to the public and is free of charge. It is a walk-through experience; children should not be dropped off and should be accompanied by an adult.
