Lewiston’s newest shoe repair shop, Jean’s Modern Shoe Service, will open its doors Monday at Main and Park Streets, proprietor Noel Jean has announced.
Jean, 10 years in the shoe repair business, has taken a two-year lease on the former Gray Jewelry Store.
The store will feature “while-you-wait” shoe repair. Customers can have a pair of men’s heels replaced in three minutes or ladies lifts repaired in no more than five minutes. Persons will be able to leave their shoes at the store and they will be ready when they return from their shopping, said Jean.

Work on the project is expected to begin about a week after the gate in the dam is opened on Oct. 1 — by then the pond should be drained, according to Allen Pond Association President Ed Evans.
