LEWISTON — More than 150 guests attended the Central Distributors’ 75th anniversary celebration at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston recently.
Central Distributors, located in Lewiston, is a full-service beverage wholesaler. It services beverage retailers all over the state with a range of products, including many popular beer, wine and nonalcoholic brands.
The business was founded by Albert Barriault in 1934, shortly after the repeal of the 18th Amendment, marking the end of Prohibition. After 75 years, the business continues to be owned and operated by the Barriault family.
Attendees included employees, family members, supplier partners and other special guests.
Fern Barriault, son of the founder, gave a brief history of the first 40 years in business. Ron Barriault (third generation) then reviewed the last 35 years of operation. Service awards were presented by Dennis Barriault (third generation), including recognition of more than 25 years of service to Barbara Moad, Louis Bilodeau and Sue Sirois. The fourth generation of Barriaults, Renee, Amy and Michael, spoke briefly of their roles in the business, thanked employees and suppliers for their contributions, and toasted to a promising future.
The mayor of Lewiston, Larry Gilbert Sr., also made an appearance to congratulate Central and the family for 75 years of business and their contributions to the city.
