Edna Pillsbury
1931 – 2009
FARMINGTON — Edna Pillsbury beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Farmington after a short hospital stay. She treasured her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed big holiday get togethers and family times spent around the pool. She found joy in her home, taking care of it and mowing the lawn. She took pride in being a shoe cutter at both G.H. Bass and Livermore Shoe. She loved her children and all of her Babies.
She was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Wilton, to the parents of Clifford and Olive Luce. At age 4, she was taken into foster care and raised by momma and daddy Thompson of Temple. She had polio as a small child and spent summers at the Pine Tree Camp for Crippled Children. She loved to play sports, run, and ride a bike. She had several good school friends that she talked about throughout her life.
In her younger years, she enjoyed camping, bowling, and time spent with close friends. She was a fisherman and a great shot when it came to hunting. She enjoyed tending to her plants and making everyone who knew her feel welcome and loved. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart and inner strength. She is famous for her homemade baked beans, custard and pumpkin pies.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Pillsbury, Sandra and Brian Griffin of Farmington; grandchildren, Tammy and husband, Nick Mayhew, and Melissa Griffon of Wilton and Teresa and husband, Steven Allen, of North Carolina; great-grandchildren (her babies), Griffin, Alex, Ella, Will Mayhew, Bree, Griffin, Shawna and Stevie Allen.
She was predeceased by her husband, Verdell; and great-granddaughter, Allie.
We would like to send out a special thank-you to Androscoggin Home Care nurses and staff, especially Susan and Lynette, The Wound Clinic at FMH, and Orchard Park Rehabilitation.
