Andrew T. Stass
1921 – 2009
AUBURN — Andrew T. Stass, 88, of Schooner Estates, Auburn, and formerly of Lisbon Falls, passed away at his home on Friday, Sept. 25, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lisbon Falls on May 24, 1921, the son of Joseph and Susan Pancak Stass.
He was a member of the St. Cyrille and Methodius Catholic Church, and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1939.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the 9th Infantry Division, and took part in the liberation of Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Dorothy H. Riley on June 28, 1952.
A strong and proud man, he worked hard all his life to provide for his family, and spent more than 30 years at the Pejepscot Paper Co. as a licensed boiler operator, retiring in 1985.
He was an avid baseball player, an excellent marksman, and enjoyed music, reading, and the outdoors throughout his life.
He will be greatly missed by a son, John, and wife, Paula, of Lewiston; a daughter, Susan Robichaud and husband, David, of Dixmont; a special granddaughter, Laurie Mower and husband, Michael, of Ripley; two great-grandchildren; and his brother-in-law, Fred L. Riley.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years; a brother, Joseph; and a sister, Anna Saindon.
