DIXFIELD — Police and the U.S. Postal Service are looking for people responsible for destroying several mailboxes with soda bottle bombs.
Dixfield police Sgt. Jeff Howe said the mailboxes of three homes on Bull Rock Lane, Nova Street and Bradley Street, were targeted during the evenings of Sept. 13 and 16. The streets are all in the same neighborhood, and the residents of the three homes were not there at the times of the incidents.
Someone apparently placed plastic soda bottles filled with materials that when combined, will explode, into each of the mailboxes, Howe said.
Creating a bomb is a felony. Destroying mailboxes is a federal offense.
Howe said neighbors of the three homes have been interviewed, but so far, there are no leads. Anyone who saw anything unusual during the nights of Sept. 13 and 16, or has any leads or suspects, is asked to contact the Dixfield Police Department at 562-4517.
