AUBURN — Tri-County Mental Health Services will have its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn. Elsie Freeman MD, MPH, medical director for the Maine Department of Human Services, will be the guest speaker.

Freeman has done numerous presentations, within Maine and at SAMHSA and CDC-Sponsored national meetings, on the morbidity and premature mortality from chronic medical conditions, and on the relationship of mental illness to health risk and chronic disease in the general population. Freeman is on the CDC Expert Panels on Mental Illness that have developed recommendations for how public health can integrate mental health into the public health agenda. She is Project Director for a MeHAF Systems Transformation Grant to integrate health issues into mental health systems of care.

The evening will also feature dinner, the presentation of the Giving Voice and Inspiration Awards for efforts on behalf of people with mental illness and a silent auction to support services.
