History barn

NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester History Barn, behind the Town Hall on Intervale Rd.,
Route 231, will be open to the public free of charge from 9 a.m. to
noon Saturday, Oct. 3. All are invited to see the display of the town
hearse, an early pung and mail wagon as well as an extensive photo
exhibit of town history. From 1 to 4 p.m., author Tom Blake will sign
copies of the new pictorial history of New Gloucester at Thompson’s
Orchard, Gloucester Hill Road.

Church program

LEWISTON — The Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St., will be present a Spiral Arts Program on Saturday, Oct. 3. Registration will be at 11 a.m. The day will be spent doing various activities and building community. Lunch will be
provided. There is no charge and all are welcome.

Apple Saturdays

NEW GLOUCESTER —  Apple Saturdays will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 and 10, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26. Free cider pressing will be available on both days and those attending may bring apples or buy Shaker apples at the Shaker Store. On Oct. 10, there will be a cider and doughnut sale.

Church celebration

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Falls Methodist Church will celebrate its 120th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, with a homecoming celebration. There will be past ministers, a hymn sing and light refreshments. It will be a time to reflect on the past and a look to the future.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club
championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 28 were: first, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Lindgren; third, Mary Leahey and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Les Buzzell and Mike Quinn; fifth, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird.

Grange meeting

POLAND — Legislative night will be observed at the meeting of Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Rd., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Discussion will be on the referendum questions to be decided at the November voting and also the resolutions up for action at the State Grange session in Augusta in mid-October. All members and guests are welcome to attend. Refreshments will follow the meeting.

weeks are: games won, first, Jeannette Freve, 17 points; Arthur Gilbert, 17
points; Maurice Morrissette, 17 points; second, Norm Bissonnette, 16
points; washes, first, Maurice Morrissette, 4; five tied for second,
Andre Auger, 2; Steve Agurkis, 2; Delia Blais, 2; Lucille Boisvert, 2; and
Carmen Charest, 2.

Cribbage play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 24 were: first, Monique Nadeau and Guy Dube; second, Marty Boyd and Aaron Burke; third, Anita Cusson and Shirley Labonte; fourth, Steve Agurkis and Robert Oliver; fifth, Terry Chambers and Cecile LeBlond.
