Lodge meeting
CANTON — Whitney Lodge 167 A.F. and A.M. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, with their annual inspection
in the EA degree. The meeting will be preceded by a casserole supper
at 6:30 p.m. All Master Masons are welcome.
Author visit
MEXICO — The public is invited to hear author Robert Pottle from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Meroby Elementary School, Cross Street. Admission and refreshments are free.
Pottle has written several books of poetry for children including “Maine: The Way Life Is,” “I’m Allergic to School” and “Poems with Moxie.” He lives in Levant with his wife and two sons.
On Oct. 5 and 6, Pottle will visit classrooms with presentations that include everything from phonemic awareness to writing poetry,
Line dancing
RUMFORD — Line dancing will resume at
the Rumford Methodist Church hall, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Beginners are welcome to come and
learn the easy steps.
Class lunch
RUMFORD — The Rumford Stephens High School Class
of 1952 will meet for the monthly luncheon at
11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Teena’s Restaurant. All class members and
guests are welcome.
Bridge play
RUMFORD — The Rumford Bridge Club met for the last time at 1 p.m. Sept.
21, at the Senior Center. A pizza party was enjoyed before the games. Winners were: first, Debbie Stewart and Jennifer Cohen; second, Paula Humbert and Clara Roy; third, Jessie Shea and Anna Cormier.
Preschool story time
RUMFORD — The weekly story times in the Rumford Public Library’s Children’s
Room will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. Area children ages 2 to 5 are
invited to attend. There will be stories, songs and finger plays, as well
as crafts that reflect the theme. It is an
opportunity for parents to have their children meet and interact with
other preschoolers. Story times will not be held during school vacations
or in the event of school cancellations.
