BRIDGTON — Loon Echo Land Trust honored longtime member Pam Edwards of Casco as its Volunteer of the Year at their annual meeting on Aug. 30.
“Pam has helped Loon Echo in a multitude of ways during the past two years, from helping with organizational assessments, to researching planning models for regional conservation, and developing a GIS mapping program in the office,” said Carrie Walia, Loon Echo executive director.
“Volunteering for an organization that I feel is so important puts a spark in my life,” Pam said in her acceptance speech. She said that she is grateful for the work that the board of directors and other members of the organization have done over the last 22 years that allows her to volunteer.
Edwards received a framed original photograph of a bald eagle soaring over Pleasant Mountain, one of Loon Echo’s preserves, as a token of appreciation for her service.
During the meeting, the membership of Loon Echo Land Trust also elected Jerry Holt to the board of directors. Holt is a resident of Sebago, one of the seven towns that Loon Echo serves, and has been involved with the organization since 2000.
Loon Echo Land Trust protects 3,400 acres of land and natural resources in the northern Sebago Lake region for current and future generations. To learn more about Loon Echo, visit www.lelt.org or call 647-4352.
