WILTON — A free public workshop on energy saving strategies for homeowners will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Academy Hill School Gymnasium.

The workshop is an example of many programs the Wilton Free Public Library
has launched as part of its mission to become a resource for families.
“The Wilton Free Public Library is about much more than just books
these days,” said David Olson, the library’s director. The concept of
the library as a family place, a resource for parents trying to
raise happy, healthy families, is an organizing principle of the
library.

A certified energy auditor will teach attendees affordable ways to keep their homes warm during the winter, while slashing their annual heating costs, which average $2,500 each year for Maine households. Homeowners will learn about government tax incentives and programs, including free energy audits and weatherization work. Hundreds of dollars in energy-saving products and services will be raffled off. All proceeds will benefit the Wilton Free Public Library. Coffee and snacks will be served.
