INDUSTRY — The Clearwater Extension Homemakers will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Shorey Chapel. The topic will be making Christmas decorations for the Chester Greenwood Festival of Trees.

STRONG — The Strong Historical
Society will feature Tom Marcotte at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7. Marcotte will discuss the
relationship between local history and the development of authentic heritage tourism venues.

He believes the creative marketing of a community’s past can serve as an economic stimulus today. Marcotte will address ways Strong can successfully use its position as the former “Toothpick Capital of the World” to generate local income in the 21st century.

The meeting will be held at the Vance and Dorothy Hammond Home, Main Street. A 6 p.m. potluck supper will be followed by a short business meeting and Marcotte’s presentation. The public is welcome. For more information, call 684-3613 or 684-2195.
