Church speaker

PARIS — The speaker for the Sunday, Oct. 4 worship service at the First
Universalist Church, Pine Street, will be Sharon Bouchard. The title of Bouchard’s sermon for the 10 a.m. service will be “An Abundant Harvest.”
Music will be under the direction of organist Forest Perkins and Sunday
School under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship
will follow the worship service and all are welcome. Child care is
available. 

Knitting guild

SOUTH PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at
10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the First Congregational Church. After a
brief meeting, those who wish to go will travel to the Knitter’s Korner

Worship service

SOUTH PARIS — Worship services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, at
Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Rd. Sunday School and “Making the Old Story Our Story” adult bible study
will begin at 9 a.m. with the service starting at 10:15 a.m., followed
by coffee, refreshments and fellowship. All are welcome.

Library speaker

BRYANT POND — Jane Chandler of the Woodstock Conservation Commission will speak at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Whitman Memorial Library. Chandler’s presentation will be on open space planning and
there will be some scenic pictures of the town. The program is open
to the public at no charge. Light refreshments will be served.

Communion Sunday

SOUTH PARIS — Sunday, Oct. 4 is World Communion Sunday and all are invited to First Congregational Church. The bread and
cup of communion is offered to all that desire to receive it. The sermon is titled “Rippling” and
will focus on the thought of letting the wholeness and forgiveness that
communion offers actually ripple out from lives into the world. Sunday services are at 10 a.m. for both church and Sunday school and all are welcome. Services are also broadcast live on AM 1450 and AM 780. Information is available at

Boy scouts

SOUTH PARIS —  Boy Scout Troop 130 will hold an open house from 6 to 8p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 6, in the Vestry of the First Congregational
Church, 17 East Main St. Information and applications will be available on the Scouting program and the opportunities available to boys in the Oxford Hills area.

Homeschool

NORWAY — Families who are homeschooling their children are invited to a homeschool open house from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 6, at the Norway Memorial Library, 258 Main St. The open house is an opportunity for
parents and children to meet other homeschooling families in the area,
swap ideas and plan future

Adoption meeting

SOUTH PARIS — The Lewiston office of the Department of Health and
Human Services will host a public informational meeting about
adoption and foster care in South Paris on Tuesday, Oct. 6, for all
interested people to attend. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is

Those considering adoption or foster care through the Maine
Department of Health and Human Services are encouraged to attend the meeting.
