‘Cancer Surviv-Art’
L/A Arts and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing have teamed up to display artwork inspired by people’s personal experiences with cancer. Twenty-five artists contributed more than 100 pieces for “Cancer Surviv-Art” exhibits showing through Oct. 28 at the L/A Arts Community Gallery, 221 Lisbon St., Lewiston; Gritty McDuff’s, 68 Main St., Auburn; Willy Beans Bistro & Café, 70 Lincoln St., Lewiston; and the Auburn Mall. Artwork in the WHA Rotating Art Gallery at Central Maine Medical Center will be up through Oct. 4. Featured are decorated bras, wooden sculptures, quilts, oil paintings, photographs, watercolors and portraits. A 12-foot tall painting, above, is on display at L/A Arts’ Community Gallery, where a “Cancer Surviv-Art” reception will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
