BETHEL — Capturing the essence of French classics while adding a jazz dimension, the C’est Si Bon jazz quintet will perform Thursday, Oct. 15, at Gould Academy.
Made up entirely of alumni from the Berklee College of Music, the band will take the stage at 7 p.m. in Bingham Auditorium. This is the first concert in the 2009-2010 Mahoosuc Arts Council Gould Performing Arts Series.
C’est Si Bon integrates a variety of styles such as valse musette, java, foxtrot, paso doble and gypsy jazz, as well as French realistic songs – plus some original songs characterized by world fusion beats and improvisation.
The ensemble is led by French-Italian singer Angela Rossi, whose voice has been described by modern jazz icon Sheila Jordan as “one of the most original and versatile of the new generation of musicians.”
C’est Si Bon has performed at well-known theaters and concert halls throughout the United States since it was founded in 2006 by directors Rossi and Maxim Lubarsky. Recent performances include Count Basie Theatre and Bergen Performing Arts Center, both in New Jersey; The Egg Theatre, New York; Irvine Hall, Pennsylvania; Palace Theatre, New Hampshire; and Berklee Performance Center, Massachusetts.
The “C’est Si Bon-Live at the BPC!” CD, released in 2008, is available at major online stores. For more information, log on to www.cestsibonmusic.com.
