Hector O. Girardin Jr.
1937 – 2009
PORTLAND — Hector O. Girardin Jr., 72, died Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Maine Medical Center. He was a resident of Main Street in Dixfield.
He was born in Livermore Falls, Feb. 15, 1937, a son of the late Hector and Arlene (Jordan) Girardin Sr. He was a graduate of Dixfield High School, Class of 1955. He worked at Diamond Match from 1955 to 1987 and then at Foster Manufacturing from 1987 to June 1990 and then for Boise Cascade from 1990 until his retirement in January 2001 as an electrician.
He and Rita traveled in their motor home to Kansas, Georgia and also went to Alaska and Europe with Image Tours and Eutin, Germany for Hanno an exchange student’s wedding. He was a self made electrician and was very knowledgeable and talented and was a master of all trades.
He was married in Rumford, July 19, 1958 to Rita Martineau, who survives of Dixfield. Other survivors include four sons, Kenneth Hector Girardin and his wife, Linda, of Kansas, Steven Girardin of Atlanta, Ga., Daniel Girardin and his wife, Leah, of Presque Isle and Michael Girardin of Weymouth, Mass.; three daughters, Jackie Kilbreth and her husband, Scotty, of Canton, Brenda Elaine Girardin of Westbrook and Nancy Crocker and her husband, Rodney, of Jay; grandchildren, Joe Kilbreth, Libby Irish and her husband, Jason, Lindsay and Kelsey Girardin, Ryan Crocker, Jason Crocker and his wife, Heather, and DarrylAnn and Kayla Girardin; one great-grandson, Adam Crocker; two sisters, Iris Grant and her husband, Earle, of Manchester, N.H., and Pauline and her husband, Richard Barr, of Farmington.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Edward and Nelson; and a grandson, James.
