LEWISTON – The Lisbon St. Getty Mart Sr. Redskins climbed into a tie for first place in FLY football, handing the Twin’s Variety Sr. Giants their first loss of the season, 12-6, in a rain-soaked, double-overtime thriller.

Jeffrey Clark scored the first Redskins touchdown on a 17-yard run in the second quarter. After a scoreless overtime and a huge goal-line stand in the second OT, Joey Gonzalez punched in the winning score from three yards out. The offensive line provided splendid blocking in the poor weather conditions.

Lily Fundis and Gonzalez each had 11 tackles to pace the Redskins defense, which also received superb games from William Adams (five tackles, fumble recovery), Aldean Porter and Austin Greeley. Jason Gonzalez picked up a key fumble to set up Clark’s TD. Clark came through with an interception to stop the Giants in the first O.

Quintarian Brown scored the Giants’ TD in the final minute of regulation. Logan Lavoie put the Giants in scoring position with some tough runs up the middle. Defensively, the Giants’ leaders were Eli Cady, Colin Mannon, Zach Abisalih and Josh Knight.

Defense also reigned in the other Senior contest, with Sam Francis State Farm squeaking out a 6-0 win over Bath Iron Works Steelers. Tim Robinson scored the TD for the Lions, who received a great effort from the entire offensive line. Defensive stars were Nathaniel Patterson, Sharif Myles, Isaac Cote and Dominick Adams.
