LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer a pottery class for women as part of their Girls Night Out programming. The two-part pottery class will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. A follow-up session will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. During the second session, participants will glaze the pottery piece they created in the first session.

Participants will learn basic hand-building and wheel throwing techniques to create a unique piece of pottery. Pottery will be kiln fired and then glazed. Participants will bring home a finished handmade pot. Pots will be fired and ready two days after glazing class.

The cost of the two-part class is $30 for YWCA members and $35 for nonmembers. The cost includes all materials and instruction. The classes will take place in the Vachon Meeting Room at the YWCA, 130 East Ave.

The classes will be taught by Lindsey Tomlinson-Peck. Tomlinson-Peck has been learning, working and teaching pottery for the last 13 years. She owns and runs The Mudroom, a clay studio located in Auburn. She teaches pottery lessons and workshops to students ages 2 and up.

Limited space is available. Register by calling Kayt DeMerchant, director of marketing and hallmark programming at YWCA of Central Maine, at 795-4050 or via e-mail at [email protected].
