RUMFORD — Voices of the Valley, a vocal competition, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Mountain Valley High School.

The competition is open to anyone who can sing. A donation of $10, nonrefundable, will be accepted from each contestant. There will be three categories: youth to age 12; ages 13 to 18; and ages 19 and older.

Prizes will be awarded to the top two winners of each category: first, $100; second, $50. The winners will then compete for the $200 cash prize and the Voices of the Valley trophy.

Auditions will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 24, and the top six contestants in each category will continue on to the evening show, which will begin at 6 p.m.

Contestants will need to prepare two songs – one for the audition and one
for the show. The final three will be asked to sing the song they
auditioned.

Entry forms and rules may be picked up at the following locations: Davis Florist on Congress Street and Erik Designs LLC on Route 108. The forms need to be returned to Diane Mitchell at Davis Florist no later than Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Admission to the competition will be a donation of $5 in advance or $6 the day of the event. It will give entry to the audition and the show. Tickets can be purchased at the following businesses: Davis Florist, Erik Designs LLC and the Canton Town Office. Concessions will be available during the show.
