Blandine Macomber
1924 – 2009
NORWAY — Blandine Geneva Macomber, 85, of Dixfield, died Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 9, 1924, in Mexico, the daughter of Floyd P. and Bernice (Frost) Macomber Sr. She was educated in Dixfield schools.
She worked as a switchboard operator in the old Hotel Stanley in Dixfield for many years. She later transferred to Norway when New England Tel & Tel went to the dial system.
She attended the Dixfield Congregational Church “Church on the Hill” when she was able to. She enjoyed crafts of various types, going for rides and watching QVC. She was most recently a resident of the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris.
She is survived by two brothers, Floyd Macomber Jr. and Mark Macomber of Dixfield; a sister, Patricia Sargent of Dixfield; a nephew, Robert Haynes.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Ruth C. Haynes of Peru.
Her family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
