I am dismayed at the Sun Journal’s decision to publish Cal Thomas’ latest hate-filled column (Oct. 1) in which he equates Islam with terrorism.

Each of the major monotheistic religions of the world has its share of extremists and Islam is no exception. It is worth remembering, however, that the second-deadliest terror attack in the United States was carried out by Timothy McVeigh, a white “Christian.”

As part of a community with a significant Muslim population, I believe the Sun Journal showed extremely poor judgment in publishing that column, filled with bigotry. There are plenty of violent, white supremacist hate sites on the Web put up by people who claim to follow Jesus Christ. That does not mean that all Christians are terrorists.
