BROWNFIELD — Two women were arrested Tuesday on charges related to an assault last month.

Jane Darby, 23, of Hillside Avenue in Parsonsfield, and Jona L. Olson, 19, of Bridge Street in Westbrook, were each charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief. In addition, Darby was charged with assault and Olson with violation of conditions of release.

According to a report by Sgt. Matt Baker of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 27 at the home of 30-year-old Michaela Davenport of Brownfield. Baker said Davenport is Olson’s ex-girlfriend, and Darby is Olson’s current girlfriend.

Baker said Darby and Olson smashed two windows in Davenport’s 1996 Buick sedan after trying to get Davenport to come out of the residence. When she came out of the house to say she was calling the police, they threw Davenport to the ground and punched and kicked her, he said.

Baker said Davenport was also struck with a “thunder stick.” He described the weapon as a large branch with sticky cloth wrapped around a wooden knot on one end and electrical tape on the other end to make a handle.

Fryeburg Rescue was called to the scene, but Davenport declined to go to the hospital.

Olson told Baker when contacted later in the day that matters had gotten out of hand between Darby and Davenport and that Davenport had pulled a knife during the confrontation.

At their initial appearance on Wednesday, bail was set at $500 cash or $5,000 worth of property for both women. Darby was also allowed the option of a supervised pre-trial contract. Both women had been released from the Oxford County Jail by Thursday afternoon.
