POLAND — Ground was recently broken for a new Northeast Bank branch, scheduled to open in about five months.

The bank will not only be the first in Poland, but bank officials say it will offer a number of technological advancements, including an “intelligent” ATM that can read checks and recognize currency, simplifying the deposit process. The bank will also stay open beyond traditional hours, including Saturday and evening hours.

The 2,000-square-foot branch will be located along Route 26, at 1399 Maine St., in an area between town hall and the Poland Regional High School.
